Making big coverage of the Europa League clash between Real Betis and Manchester United tonight, Radio Marca managed to interview a former player from the La Liga side who’s now in the Premier League.

That’s Leeds United goalkeeper Joel Robles, who had been at the Spanish club for four years before joining the Whites on a free move last summer.

The 32-year-old had a long conversation about how Betis can try for qualification tonight, as they lost 4-1 at Old Trafford in the first leg of the round-of-16.

When speaking of English football, Robles was asked about the irregularity that Manchester United have been showing lately, and pointed out how unpredictable the Premier League can be, using Leeds United’s results from this season as an example.

“Here in the Premier you can find all kinds of results. We have beaten Chelsea and Liverpool away from home and we have lost against the latter,” Robles told Radio Marca.

“It is a very competitive league, every weekend you can expect any result. You are watching Arsenal, and from time to time it is difficult for them and then they win five games in a row… The good thing about the Premier is that they are very strong and very competitive clubs.”

Robles also confirmed his support for Betis tonight, claiming that once he arrived Leeds, he made sure to have a way to watch Spanish football.

“Yes, the first thing one does here as soon as they arrive is put on Spanish television. It’s a trick that some don’t know, but it’s a way of making you feel like you’re at home.”

The player also revealed he went to Old Trafford to see his former teammates last week, complaining a little about the lack of things to do in Leeds.

“I was greeting my teammates, I was in training at Old Trafford. I talk a lot with them, I’m up to date with everything, I know what’s going on… I watch the games because here, since the weather is bad, I have to watch a lot of TV so I have seen many games.”

“Going out here… at most going to the movies. Here is another culture, another system, this thing of going to Paseo Colón and seeing the atmosphere is not given.”
