Manchester United have made initial contact over the signing of Fran Villalba from Valencia, his agent has revealed.
Speaking to Sport Witness, Vicente Forés said the Premier League are in early talks for the midfielder, although Valencia will do what they can to keep the player.
Asked if there were contacts with him or with the Spanish club for the transfer, the representative told us: “With me. Just a contact to know his situation. They’re already aware.”
“I don’t know about Valencia. But I reckon they will make it hard,” said Forés.
The agent explained the transfer contact is in the very early stages, though. Questioned if José Mourinho’s side are likely to make a bid soon, Forés said: “We’ve just started talking. It’s up to United.”
Villalba is currently playing for Valencia Mestalla, which is the club’s B team. He has four appearances for the senior squad, all of them during the last season, when he was still 17 years old.
The club reportedly want to give him a new contract, with higher wages and a bigger release clause. The player’s current release clause is just €4m, which would prove too much of an issue for the biggest clubs.
