With Kendry Paez being just 16 years old and having already been bought by Chelsea, it’s clear that European clubs have been watching him from a very early age.
The youngster is a bit of a phenomenon in Ecuador, as despite being so young, he already has appearances in the Copa Libertadores and for the national team.
Radio Cobertura FM today had this week a conversation with Kendry Paez’s dad Ray, and talked to him about his move to Chelsea.
The player’s father revealed that the Blues nearly lost the race for the signing, because he was actually close to a move to the Bundesliga.
Ray Paez also had a bit of a rant about people who’ve been taking advantage of the youngster’s status now.
“Now there are a lot of people who want to profit from Kendry when before they even stole money from us. Now they even want to sue us and they are making videos of him, we know how things really went and we are calm. He watches everything on networks.”
Chelsea and Independiente Del Valle may already have a deal for Paez’s transfer, but the youngster is only moving to the Blues in the summer of 2025, when he’ll be 18 years old. Until then, Ecuadorians will have a great chance to enjoy having such a star in the local league.
