Everton are ‘interested in’ a deal for Paris Saint Germain striker Hugo Ekitike, although talks are regarding a loan deal and not a permanent transfer.

That’s according to journalist Ignazio Genuardi, who says the striker is one of three options being explored as the Toffees look to bolster their forward line.

Reports elsewhere in France today had claimed that Everton had made a bid for Ekitike today, lodging an initial offer with PSG worth around €35m.

Genuardi disputes that though and says while there is interest in Ekitike and talks are being held with the Parisian giants, it is over a loan deal for the striker and nothing more.

According to his information, Everton have turned to Ekitike after failing in their efforts to sign Moussa Dembele, Kelechi Iheanacho and Victor Gyökeres. Thus, they have now turned their attention to the PSG man.

Genuardi also adds that talks over a €35m clause being included are being held, although it remains to be seen if this is a mandatory clause or an optional one.

He’s not their only target, though, as they are also looking in the Championship for potential options, with Leicester’s Patson Daka and Southampton’s Che Adams also possible targets for them.

Whether they are players to be targeted if a deal for Ekitike doesn’t work or being looked at alongside him isn’t mentioned, but it seems the Blues have a plan and they’re pushing ahead to see it come to fruition.
