Everton will ‘not make an effort’ to keep defender Yerry Mina and will allow him to leave next month if ‘a proposal arrives’ for him.

That’s according to Goal Brasil journalist Raisa Simplicio, who says the Blues will let the Colombian leave before his contract ends in June 2023.

The centre-back’s current contract expires in the summer, meaning he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of England from January 1st.

He has been linked with a return to Spain or a possible move to Brazil as a result, with it made clear he is not a part of Everton’s plans moving forwards.

The 28-year-old has been at Goodison Park since a €30.25m move from Barcelona in 2018 but has only made 93 appearances in that time as injuries have continually limited his availability.

Indeed, this season alone he has made just one appearance in the Premier League with an ankle injury ruling him out since August.

That has seemingly brought an end to his Everton career, with Simplicio reporting that they will not stand in his way if he can find a move away.

“Yerry Mina has a contract with Everton until June 2023 and in January can already sign a pre-contract with any club,” she wrote on Twitter.

“The English club will not make an effort to keep the defender and if a proposal arrives can release him.”
