Everton are very much in Gylfi Sigurdsson mode right now, with the former Swansea City star’s face beaming with delight as he was announced as a Blue on Wednesday.

Over in France, a little snippet in a report from L’Equipe helps kill one transfer rumour which never should have lived really.

Several times this summer it’s been claimed Everton are keen on signing Moussa Sissoko. Yes, that’s the same Moussa Sissoko’s who dropped Everton at the last minute last summer to go and sign for Tottenham instead.

That decision turned into an absolute disaster and it was widely expected Sissoko would move this summer, but with two weeks left of the transfer window he hasn’t gone anywhere.

L’Equipe believe it’s the price putting clubs off, and Everton are linked once again. However, this supposed interest from Goodison Park and elsewhere hasn’t turned into anything concrete because Spurs want a big fee.

Not wanting a loan, Sissoko’s club want to get back as much as they. L’Equipe say an investment ‘close to 30m’ would be required to facilitate a sale, and Everton and others simply haven’t been interested enough to go near that.

The French newspaper don’t put a currency on the 30m, and perhaps, especially for Everton, it doesn’t really matter.
