A couple of days ago, we had a story about Everton’s scouting mission in the game between Vitória de Setúbal and Porto.
The Toffees’ visit to the Estádio do Bonfim had been reported by the Portuguese press, although local outlets didn’t know who the emissaries had an eye on.
But now the Brazilian media reveals Everton’s target, and that’s Éder Militão from Porto.
Website UOL claims that this was the second time the Premier League side scouted the player, as they had already watched him in Porto’s Champions League clash against Schalke 04.
UOL writes that Militão was the best player in both matches, and the player’s staff believes that he will hardly spend more than a season at Porto.
He joined the Portuguese side on a €4m deal from São Paulo this summer, but according to the report, the evaluation is that he’s worth at least €20m already.
If Everton are really interested, they may be frustrated they waited for Porto to get him first, as they’ve missed a golden opportunity to sign him in the summer. Militão was only that cheap because his contract with São Paulo would have expired in January.
In our opinion, UOL are going on the low side with €20m, because surely the Dragons will demand much more.
