We’ve come across an update on the Kevin Mirallas to Fiorentina deal.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the deal taking the Belgian winger from Everton to Italy still needs to some work done on it, but it’s heading in the right direction.
The national newspaper believe it will be a loan, which has already been widely reported, with a view to buy.
Fiorentina should pay the Toffees around €1m up front, and the whole thing will end up costing them around €3m should they decide to make the move permanent.
As tends to be the case with transfers going in that direction (from England to anywhere else), the problem lies with the wages the player is currently on.
The €1.7m/year Mirallas earns after tax is a bit too much for the Serie A outfit, and Fiorentina have offered him €1.3m/year over the next four years if they trigger the buyout clause in his loan.
Mirallas is said to be ‘evaluating’ the offer, and it’s likely he’ll give his decision on the matter soon enough.
Corriere Fiorentino, one of Florence’s local papers, believe there’s also the option of the Belgian transferring permanently to Serie A this summer, but it would have to be for a lower fee than the €3m combined package the loan has to offer.
Either way, this appears to be going well.
