Jarrad Branthwaite ‘will return’ to Everton from PSV Eindhoven in the summer transfer window, will a permanent transfer currently ‘unfeasible’.

That’s according to Eindhovens Dagblad, relayed by Voetbal Primeur, who say the defender will be returning to Goodison Park after his successful loan spell in the Eredivisie.

Branthwaite has been with the Dutch side since the summer, heading out of Everton on a temporary basis when it was made clear he was not a part of Frank Lampard’s plans at the time.

After a slow start under Ruud van Nistelrooy, he has established himself as a first-team regular, with a series of impressive performances in the league and Europe.

PSV have made it clear for a while that they would like to sign him on a permanent basis and talks over that would be sought at the end of the season.

However, reports in the last few weeks have made it clear that was unlikely to happen, with various outlets and journalists pointing out that Everton weren’t keen.

That was followed by a claim that the Toffees were essentially pricing PSV out of a move thanks to the figures they were asking for the defender.

ED follow that up today and state that a permanent transfer is currently ‘unfeasible’ for the Dutch side and provided that there are no new developments, the Englishman ‘will return’ to Everton at the end of this season.

There is time for that to change, of course, or perhaps for Branthwaite to potentially push for a move, but at the moment it appears he will be in the Blues squad next season.
