Everton are just €2m away from matching Leeds United’s demands for Wilfried Gnonto and getting a deal over the line.

That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who say Everton are continuing to work on a deal for the Leeds forward despite reports that they had pulled out.

They report that Everton ‘could soon’ reach an agreement for Gnonto, who they have been linked with throughout the summer as they look to bolster their forward line.

According to TMW’s information, the Toffees are still €2m away from Leeds’ demands for the forward but there is a feeling that the ‘deal can go through’ eventually.

Gnonto impressed for Leeds in his first season in the Premier League last year and, like much of the squad from last season, is seemingly keen to leave Elland Road this summer and continue outside of the Championship.

Leeds start their new campaign on Monday but the belief from TMW is that it could be a case of ‘hit and run’ for him as far as that is concerned. In other words, he could play and then soon quickly depart.

That will be dependent on Everton, who still need to up their bid ever so slightly to get their man and are yet to do so.

Perhaps they are now moving ahead with their efforts to close that gap given Demarai Gray could be on his way to Fulham, a deal which would likely give them the funds to match what Leeds want for Gnonto, and bolster their attack on top of Chermiti.
