Djibril Sidibe has spent his football career in France, playing for Troyes, Lille and AS Monaco. He joined Les Monégasques two years ago and has been a regular in the right-back position, whenever he is managed to remain fit.
In the 2017/18 season, Sidibe made 27 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring two goals and registering seven assists in the process. Monaco have already agreed a deal with Liverpool for Fabinho and L’Equipe claims the defender and Thomas Lemar could also be on their way out this summer.
Sidibe is not short of suitors as Atletico Madrid and “especially Manchester United” are interested in signing the defender this summer. He can play on either of the wide positions of the back four, and Jose Mourinho’s side have now been linked multiple times in recent weeks.
His current deal at Monaco runs down in 2022, but the full-back is keen on making the big jump this summer.
Jose Mourinho’s side will have beat the Spanish capital club in signing Sidibe. He is currently on international duty with France, preparing for the 2018 World Cup. Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev admitted that he has heard about the transfer rumours, but stressed that his transfer will only be considered after the tournament in Russia.
“There is interest. I’ve heard talk about it. But we don’t have anything concrete on the table. There are really a good few clubs circling. I think in his case, too, we have to wait for after the World Cup. I don’t think it’s the time to talk about a transfer before the World Cup,” Vasilyev told SFR Sport.
The same SFR Sport reported on Wednesday that Sidibe ‘dreams’ of a move to the Premier League, and Manchester United were presented as one of the options.
