Lazio forward Keita Balde Daio was linked with a move to West Bromwich Albion during the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old has another couple of years left on his current contract, and the Premier League side tried to take advantage of that by making an offer of €18m, which was turned down by Lazio.

The Serie A club were looking for offers around €30m, and West Brom weren’t prepared to pay that much.

In recent days it’s been reported the West Brom Albion transfer target has been negotiating a new contract at the Serie A club.

Keita has been speaking to the Italian media after Lazio’s 3-0 win over Udinese. Asked about his contract situation by Premium Sport (via Corriere dello Sport), he said: “My contract? I don’t want to speak about my contract renewal. I want to think only about the match and the team.”

That wasn’t exactly a comment from the footballer to fill Lazio with confidence, and it remains to be seen if the Serie A club have made any progress yet.
