After all the excitement of Tuesday evening and then Wednesday, Liverpool fans can turn off their phones today for a reason other than avoiding Everton happiness.
That’s at least according to 1908, who say there are two reasons that there are unlikely to be any significant developments around Arne Slot’s proposed move to Anfield.
Liverpool appear to have targeted the Dutch coach as their man to replace Jurgen Klopp in the summer, making their first official offer for him on Wednesday.
That was quickly rejected by Feyenoord but the belief, particularly in the Netherlands, is that deal will be struck at some point, as he is keen to join Liverpool and take the opportunity.
It seems Liverpool fans desperate for some positivity will need to wait, though, as their club are yet to make another formal offer for the Dutch coach.
Until that happens things will not proceed and even then, the two clubs are still apart on their valuations of him. There is also the fact that Feyenoord are playing Go Ahead Eagles this evening and so their, and Slot’s focus, is on that game.
Furthermore, technical director Dennis te Kloese, who will handle negotiations with Liverpool, flew to Madrid on Wednesday evening for the meeting of the European Club Association and so isn’t available for talks either.
The club already have a replacement plan lined up for Slot after he was heavily linked with a move away so they’re prepared anyway, but at the minute talks with Liverpool aren’t expected to suddenly come to the conclusion everyone assumes they will.
