Over in Belgium, there are a few who aren’t overly happy with the way Romelu Lukaku has handled his business at Chelsea this summer.

The Blues striker never appeared to have a future at Stamford Bridge under Mauricio Pochettino, and that led to a lot of talk about a sale this summer, first with Inter Milan, then Juventus.

However, nothing has come from those, meaning the Chelsea player is currently stuck at Stamford Bridge, as Gilles de Bilde voiced his opinion on VTM2, relayed by Voetbal Nieuws, about the Belgium international’s behaviour.

After all, his entire country will want him to have a productive season ahead of the 2024 Euros, but unless he can find an exit route from London, that seems unlikely.

Still, a lot of it is his fault, as De Bilde pointed out.

He said: “He’s in a sporting impasse. Only Allegri seems to want him. He also hasn’t handled it well by talking to Juventus through his lawyer behind Inter’s back. You don’t do that.

“At the moment, Saudi Arabia seems to be the only avenue left for Lukaku, but does he want that for himself?”

Multiple claims in Italy suggest that isn’t the case, and Lukaku will try to find himself a new option in Europe, with Tottenham reportedly interested.

Whether that happens, however, remains to be seen.
