Pretty much all the French sport media are now in agreement, Hannibal Mejbri is on the verge of joining Manchester United.
It’s been a long chase for the Premier League club, and certainly not a simple one given all the disagreement between those representing Mejbri and those in charge at AS Monaco.
Thursday’s edition of Le Parisien reports the Red Devils offered €4m for the 16 year old during the January window, but were knocked back. On Wednesday, both RMC and L’Equipe reported he’d now be moving to Manchester after a €10m offer was submitted.
Thursday’s edition of L’Equipe covers that again and goes with a headline saying ‘Million Dollar Baby’.
The French newspaper goes on to explain that €5m will be paid initially, with Monaco potentially getting a further €5m based on bonuses.
Le Parisien backs up all the claims of a deal being close, saying that a source close to the transfer has told them: “It’s done!”
They also go with the idea of the fee being €5m+€5m, and say Mejbri is set to sign a long term contract with Manchester United ‘in the coming hours’.
He’s due in England for a medical and everything should now move pretty quickly, with other interested clubs, such as Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Lyon, all missing out.
