Parma sporting director Daniele Faggiano has told the Italian media he could be priced out of a move for Aston Villa midfielder Birkir Bjarnason.
Yesterday we covered reports from Italy that Parma had an agreement with Bjarnason, but had failed to convince Aston Villa with their offer.
TMW have reported on comments Faggiano made to Parma TV when asked about signing the Aston Villa player: “Bjarnason, I like a lot, I tried for him in the summer, but for economic reasons it seems difficult for me to get him.”
Parma have been linked with the Iceland international in recent weeks, but it’s going to be difficult for the Serie B side to compete with the finances of Aston Villa.
It seems from Faggiano comments he’s keen to get a deal done for Bjarnason, but it looks likely the Italian side will not get an agreement with Aston Villa, which backs up yesterday’s reports.
Bjarnason joined Aston Villa 12 months ago from FC Basel, but he’s played just 17 league games for the club. This season he’s made 8 appearances in the Championship.
