According to reports in the Italian media, Aston Villa midfielder Birkir Bjarnason has agreed to a move a to Parma, but he needs the Championship side to give the green light to the transfer.

The Iceland international has been linked with the Serie B side in recent weeks.

Tuttosport have reported via TMW, Bjarnason is keen on the move to Parma, and he’s accepted a proposal from the Italian club. Parma are looking to bolster their squad in this transfer window, and are also targeting Hellas Verona’s Marco Fossati.

However, Parma still haven’t come to an agreement with Aston Villa over Bjarnason, but with 16 days left of the transfer window there won’t be any panic at this stage.

Bjarnason joined Aston Villa 12 months ago from FC Basel, but he’s played just 17 league games for the club. This season he’s made 8 appearances in the Championship.

The 29 year old is contracted to Aston Villa for the next two and half years.
