Sheffield United midfielder Ismaila Coulibaly has insisted the club will decide his future this summer, regardless of what he would like to do.
The 23-year-old has been speaking to Aftonbladet about his future as he spends the second half of this season on loan at AIK.
He joined the Swedish side in February after struggling at Sheffield United since returning from a loan spell at Beerschot from September 2020 to June 2022.
The loan move is yet to really work out for him, though, as he’s made just two appearances in the Allsvenskan so far and five in all competitions since he’s arrived.
He’s admitted openly that he’s been left frustrated by the situation, although a change in mindset has occurred and he’s now looking at matters differently.
Regardless, all indications are that he will return to Sheffield United in the summer, where a decision will have to be made about his future as he appears to not have much of a future at Brammall Lane either.
A return to AIK is a potential option for him but he insists it will depend entirely on what Sheffield United want to do.
“I trust Thomas (Berntsen) a lot,” he said.
“In the beginning I complained about my position here in AIK but now I am learning the system. I am happy now. The discussion about my future is open and I trust Thomas.
“So, we’ll see what happens. It could be that I stay, but it’s all about what Sheffield wants too. They decide.”
