Santiago Bueno has only just been announced as a new Wolverhampton Wanderers player but has already spoken to his home country’s media about the move.
The defender was today interviewed by Sport890 in Uruguay, and shared some comments about how exciting it is to get a transfer to the Premier League.
He started by revealing that Wolves interest in him was actually nothing new, even though the club decided to only make the move so late in the summer window.
“It’s a very important step for me. The club’s interest came from the previous season but without a specific offer that came last week. It was all very fast due to the end of the transfer period.”
“Hopefully I can play my debut with Crystal Palace. I’m going to play with number 4, which was the number my dad used,” Santi Gomes told Sport 890.
Wolves spent €12m to sign Bueno from Girona. With his arrival, they’ve now spent €79m on signings this summer, having also paid for the arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Boubacar Traoré and Enso González, while Matt Doherty and Tom Kind arrived as free agents, with Tommy Doyle joining on a loan.
With little time to adapt to the new team, we shall see if the Spaniard will play as soon as he plans.
