Last week, with Flamengo fans deeply disappointed with Andreas Pereira’s start of season, we’ve seen reports from Brazil claiming the club could give up on their deal with Manchester United.
Even though the Rio de Janeiro side have a €20m buying option over the midfielder, it’s been claimed that there’s an agreement to make the move permanent for €10.5m, and that’s still considered to be too much.
That’s why ‘important people’ at Flamengo were said to be trying to cancel the deal, but according to reports at the weekend, that will not happen.
On Youtube, journalist Venê Casagrande claims the Brazilian club will honour the deal, and the announcement was only being delayed so the player could feature in the Super Cup.
“There is no possibility of Flamengo giving up on the purchase. A person from Flamengo told me: ‘What credibility would we have after leaving here, staying four, five days there talking to Manchester United, we go back to Brazil and give up?’ There is not the slightest possibility”.
The Super Cup was played on Sunday, and with Andreas not even being used, Flamengo lost it.
Therefore, it might still take a couple of days until they finally announce his permanent arrival, but the belief is it will get done eventually.
