Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Chiquinho has found himself the subject of praise this week thanks to his ‘creativity and explosion’, both of which secured victory for Famalicão over Gil Vicente.

Record cover the player today, who is currently on loan at Famalicão, having joined them in the summer transfer window.

He’s been spending the season with the Portuguese side after it was made clear he was not a part of Wolves plans for this season.

It’s his second loan deal away from Molineux after joining the club from Estoril Praia in January 2022, with him first spending a short spell at Stoke before returning to his homeland in September last year.

His time at Stoke was cut short after just three games and he’s struggled to be a regular for Famalicão too, with just 20 appearances in the league so far and 57% of the available minutes played.

He has had some impact, though, bagging four goals and two assists in Liga Portugal to date, including his latest strike in the 2-1 over Gil Vicente on Friday.

Record say that was a goal created by ‘creativity and explosion’, with the winger stepping up to score a ‘beautiful shot’ into the top corner in a ‘moment of protagonism’.

It was a rare sign of the 24-year-old’s qualities and one Famalicão will be hoping he can reproduce more often between now and the end of the season.

It’s still unknown if they’ll be interested in a permanent deal in the summer, but it’s unlikely Wolves will see a place for him in their squad next season.

A permanent exit could be the best solution at this stage.
