At the start of last week, there were reports from Italy insisting Tottenham Hotspur are still keen to sign AS Roma star Nicolò Zaniolo in the summer window.

On August 9th, Gazzetta dello Sport stated the north London club are a ‘real temptation’ for the winger.

It was also said the Serie A side are not satisfied with formula [loan with obligation to buy under certain conditions] proposed by Tottenham.

Spurs continue to be named as a suitor for the 23-year-old, primarily because of Antonio Conte.

According to Italian journalist Xavier Jacobelli, the former Chelsea manager ‘wants Zaniolo at Tottenham’ because he ‘values him a lot’. Jacobelli made these comments to Radio Radio, relayed by Tutto Juve.

The journalist went on to add Tottenham have ‘so much money’ to carry out the Italy international’s signing, but a potential transfer will depend on ‘when and how’ the Premier League side ‘want to move’ for Zaniolo.

TuttoMercatoWeb explain Tottenham are ‘always attentive’ to Zaniolo. If he were to still be at the Italian club beyond the window, then Roma will open new talks with the star over a renewal. Their idea is to secure his long-term future until 2027.

TMW state: ‘Work in progress for the future, developments from mid-September. Zaniolo and Roma could still go on together…’
