Things have sped up over at AS Roma for the potential new talks regarding a transfer for Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld.
On Thursday, it was believed the Serie A side could reach out once more ‘in the next few days’ to see if Spurs would be willing to do a deal, and now, Il Tempo reckon it could be ‘in the coming hours’.
Of course, both those things are interchangeable, since the next 48 hours could be seen as either coming days or hours, but the choice of words suggests a bit more urgency.
However, instead of directly contacting Daniel Levy and co., Roma would instead get in touch with the Belgian’s father, who is described as the one ‘dealing with the negotiations in person, alongside the family’s lawyer and an Italian agent’.
There’s a brief mention that Alderweireld could end up ‘in a swap’ for either Nicolo Zaniolo or Alessandro Florenzi, but a move for either seems rather difficult right now.
It’s said ‘contacts are intensifying’ regarding the centre-back, and that suggests we could get a bit more news over the weekend.
In the meantime, Alderweireld is currently with Tottenham on their pre-season tour in Singapore, where they will face Juventus on Sunday.
