Chelsea loanee Andrey Santos continues to live some controversial situations during his spell at Vasco da Gama.

Due to the Blues’ request, the player had to be released by the Rio de Janeiro club to take part in the U-20 World Cup in Argentina last month.

It turns out that according to Lance, he returned with an ankle injury and should be unavailable for Vasco’s match at the weekend.

It’s claimed that the Chelsea loanee played the last games of the U-20 World Cup with ‘discomfort’ in his ankle.

According to Lance, the same issue had already followed him ‘in the final stretch’ of 2022, so that may be something for the Blues to be concerned with.

Andrey’s loan at Vasco expires at the end of June. There’s also a financial issue going on there, as he’s suing the club for not getting his share from the transfer to Chelsea.

Still, it’s said that the problem isn’t stopping him from playing for them, and it’s really the injury which shall leave him out.

By the start of the English pre-season, Andrey should be available to train with Chelsea, although a lot could depend on what happens with his ankle.
