The links between Chelsea and Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili are today brought back by the Spanish media.

The story comes from Fichajes, who claim the Mestalla side may have second thoughts about selling the 22-year-old next year.

The outlet highlights how Valencia used to see Mamardashvili’s sale as a ‘unique business opportunity’, as they knew he’d become quite valuable in the transfer market.

The club are off to a good start in La Liga, with three wins in five games, and are now hopeful of qualifying for the Champions League next year.

That could cause a ‘radical change’ in their stance on Mamardashvili’s future, and that’s where Chelsea are brought in.

Fichajes claims that the Blues have €40m ‘ready’ to be spent on the goalkeeper, and it starts to become unclear whether that would be enough to take him away from the Mestalla.

It seems Valencia’s season will now be crucial for their decision, as in case they do qualify for the Champions League, there’s a suggestion they’ll want more.

However, this is Valencia and if recent years are anything to go by, there’s the chance of their season collapsing in the coming months.
