Italian side Como’s interest in Celtic youngster Rocco Vata is ‘still strong’ despite competition from Bologna and Sampdoria this month.

That’s according to Il Giorno, who say they have no problem competing for the Celtic ‘talent’ if required to do so.

Vata has been heavily linked with a move away from Brendan Rodgers’ squad since the beginning of the month, when it was made clear several Italian teams were keen on his signature.

Serie B side Como have entered the race this week, with it first explained they had initiated contacts with Celtic over a potential move.

That was followed by a report that they were continuing to push to try and get a deal for the 18-year-old, with Celtic presumably open to the idea to avoid losing him on a free transfer in the summer when his contract comes to an end.

It would be an impressive capture for the Serie B side and Il Giorno now say their interest is ‘still strong’, despite the competition from teams in the division above them.

They’ve have to beat Bologna and Sampdoria to his signature but there’s apparently a belief that they can do so and talks with Celtic continue to try and get the attacking midfielder.
