There’s a wide belief in Italy the story surrounding Toby Alderweireld potentially going from Tottenham to AS Roma could continue on its merry way even after the transfer window in England shuts.
Corriere dello Sport have an article on Thursday claiming that while it’s not dead in the water, it’s still a very difficult deal for the Serie A side to pull off.
It’s claimed that between the price demanded by Tottenham and the amount offered by Roma, there’s still €6m or €7m separating the two.
And Roma don’t really stand a chance of trying to negotiate for a better deal, at least not now, since Spurs are pretty busy with late transfer business.
The newspapers says Tottenham have been working on deals for the signings of Lo Celso and Paulo Dybala, and since they haven’t been looking for a defender, selling Alderweireld now would be a disaster for the squad.
That’s why Roma are looking for other alternatives. The Belgian’s transfer looks quite unlikely, unless Spurs decide to sell him after the end of the Premier League transfer window, with no chance of getting a replacement.
