Portuguese side Sporting are ready to move for the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers fullback Ruben Vinagre, according to reports from Lisbon today.
Newspaper A Bola explains that the Lions have decided to make an attempt to land the 22-year-old, and are currently waiting for the green light from the Premier League side so they start negotiating for the transfer.
As usually done by Portuguese clubs, Sporting would first get some sales done before closing any income transfers. Still, they have set Vinagre as a man who must be bought this summer, and expect the positive sign from the Molineux side.
A Bola claims the player sees ‘with good eyes’ a stay in the Portuguese League, following the loan spell he had at Famalicão this season. It’s said he’d rather continue in his country than return to Wolves.
Following claims from the English press saying Wolves would demand €5m for Vinagre’s transfer, A Bola says that amount would be ‘considered’ by Sporting. It’s explained they’ve ‘reserved’ a five-year contract for him.
Vinagre started his career at Sporting’s academy before the moves to Monaco, Academica, Wolves, Olympiacos and Famalicão. So the move for him would also be a comeback to his old home.
