Barcelona have spoken with Tottenham ‘in the last few hours’ to advance negotiations over a permanent deal for Clement Lenglet.
That’s according to Sport, who say the Catalans are getting to work on closing several possible exits from the Nou Camp and Lenglet is one of them.
He’s currently on loan at Tottenham after moving their temporarily last summer to bolster their defensive ranks.
He’s been a regular this season and it seems negotiations are now underway to make the move a permanent one.
They’ve made it clear that Tottenham ‘have priority’ and are hoping that Spurs will close a deal worth more than €12m, thus allowing them to avoid any losses on a player who cost €35m to sign from Sevilla in 2018.
Spurs have also indicated that they want to keep him, and talks have been held in ‘the last few hours’ to make that happen.
The plan is for the two clubs to ‘continue advancing’ the negotiations to finalise an agreement, with Lenglet happy to remain at Tottenham as he knows there is no place for him at Barcelona moving forwards.
