The small saga linking Newcastle United fullback Kieran Trippier to Bayern Munich now seems to be coming to an end.

That was today confirmed by Christoph Freund, director of the Bundesliga side, speaking to Sky Deutschland.

Quoted by Fussball Transfers, the Bayern chief said: “It’s done, we’re just doing what we’re 100% convinced of.”

The outlet claims that could be seen coming, with Newcastle turning down the €15m bid that was on the table.

As many times said by the German media, Bayern’s priority for that position was always Paris Saint Germain’s Nordi Mukiel. In this same interview, Freund claimed that there’s still hope that they’re getting the Frenchman.

So it’s interesting how Trippier was a Plan B, and still, there was enough in the talks with Newcastle that the club chief had to go public to admit they couldn’t sign him.

The Magpies don’t seem bothered by the situation, as they’ve been making big use of Trippier this season and wouldn’t let him walk at this stage just to make a few million, despite the reported agreement between the player and the German club.
