Barcelona signed Neto in 2019 from Valencia, with Jasper Cillessen going the other way shortly afterwards. It was presented by some in Spain as a way of working around finances, with the values given to the transfers perhaps higher than they should have been.

In multiple transfer windows since then, the Brazilian has been heavily linked with an exit and it’s seemed clear the Blaugrana would listen to offers.

Now Bournemouth are said to be keen on signing the player, but there’s not a lot of confidence the deal can go through.

Catalan newspaper Sport explain Neto sees himself more at a club at the level of Inter Milan than Bournemouth, and therefore clearly doesn’t fancy a season battling at the wrong end of the table.

According to the report, he’s also asking for a ‘very high’ wage, which is likely to scare off multiple clubs, although there’s no indication what Bournemouth’s stance on that would be.

Barcelona are ‘surprised’ with the player’s attitude as he continues to push interest away.
