Earlier this summer we brought you a report that stated Real Sociedad were interested in Arsenal’s Nacho Monreal.
Since then there have been various updates on the potential move, with it remaining clear throughout that the La Liga side were keen on the 33-year-old.
He now finds himself down the pecking order at the Emirates following the arrival of Kieran Tierney, with Sead Kolasinac another ahead of him at left-back.
Diario Vasco cover Real Sociedad’s interest this weekend and not only confirm that they still want to sign Monreal this summer but also that he’s interested in the move.
They currently have Aihen Muñoz and Kevin Rodrigues vying for the left-back spot, but Sociedad are not convinced about the latter.
Likewise, their defence is relatively young, and Monreal would add some much-needed experience to it. The fact he can also play centre-back is another positive for them.
Monreal is open to the move as he knows competition for places is high at Arsenal at this moment in time, particularly following the arrival of Tierney.
Diario say he considers La Real’s project attractive, while the move would also see him returning close to his home in Pamplona.
The newspaper makes it clear that there’s no agreement in place between the two clubs at this moment in time but with Sociedad and Monreal both keen, and Arsenal now having replacements, it feels likely that a deal can be done.
