In case you want to check how well Manchester City loanee has been Pedro Porro doing in Portugal, all you need is to check the local newspapers today.

Three big outlets have stories on the fullback on Monday, and all of them say Sporting have big chances of keeping the player following the end of his spell.

Porro was picked by the Lions fans as the man of the match in the 2-0 win over Braga at the weekend, and the 21-year-old’s 16 performances so far were more than enough to show his potential at the Lisbon side.

Correio da Manhã brings a big piece saying everyone at Sporting is ‘delighted’ with his form, ‘from president to club members’, and the Lions ‘admit’ the wish of making his signing permanent.

His loan runs until the summer of 2022, and there’s a buying option of €8m to be triggered before then, so there’s no rush to do it now.

The outlet learned that the Portuguese side had been following Porro for years, from the time when he was at Girona. They say the La Liga club wanted €15m to let him go at the time, while the likes of RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk also wanted him. However, he ended up moving to Manchester City in a €12m deal in 2019.

Newspaper O Jogo approaches this topic as well, claiming that Sporting are quite safe regarding the loan. They say there’s no clause in the contract which would allow Manchester City to call him back before the summer of 2022.

It’s claimed that the Lions are planning to use the buying option by June this year, so they can guarantee the signing before Porro’s market value starts going up.

Meanwhile, outlet Record is another one talking about the fullback. They’re mostly focused on the chances he shall have in the Spanish national team, since Luis Enrique is following his development at Sporting.

Regarding the buying clause, Record says the Lions haven’t made any contact to talk about it, especially because they have a long time to do it.

The general feeling in Portugal is that Sporting made a great deal for the Spanish youngster.
