Manchester United will need to bring in defensive reinforcements this summer, either in the form of a centre-back or a defensive midfielder or both.
Sevilla star Jules Koundé is one of the names linked with a move to Old Trafford.
He completed the 2020-21 season with the La Liga side and the 22-year-old’s fine displays convinced Didier Deschamps to include him in the France squad for Euro 2020.
Last Friday, the Red Devils target admitted he may change clubs this summer and his wish is to join a “big club”, and just days after the player open the door for transfer, Manchester United and other potential suitors receive encouragement after Sevilla make their stance clear.
Koundé has a release clause of €80m, but the Andalusian club will start listening to offers from €70m, reports Diario de Sevilla.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are named as suitors, and the two Spanish giants will look to lower the price tag by including some of their own players as a part of the deal.
Mundo Deportivo also explain Julen Lopetegui’s side have set a €65-70m asking price, and they also mention the Camp Nou side’s interest.
The Catalan newspaper, however, adds Sevilla sporting director Monchi is not in favour of working out player trades involving Koundé.
If United are in favour of conducting a direct deal, Sevilla could give preference to them over the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, although this step would only be considered if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. make an offer to sign Koundé.
