Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has made some weird accusations today about Alisson’s move from Roma to Liverpool.
The club official was interviewed by Italian newspaper Il Mattino, and had a lot to say about his own side, especially on the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti as manager.
But when speaking about his league rivals, De Laurentiis couldn’t really hold this tongue, and had some very strong quotes about the former Roma goalkeeper’s transfer, which was made official last month.
De Laurentiis has claimed that he also tried to sign Alisson, but had a bid rejected, while Roma sold the player to Liverpool for nearly the same amount. According to the president, that could be because both clubs are owned by the same people.
“Roma are all a mystery because they have dismantled everything and reassembled a puzzle that I can’t decipher and I do not know how healthy all these changes have been.”
“When I discover a goalkeeper like Alisson, I don’t give away even for 100 million, so when I offered 60 two months ago in the League to representatives of Roma, they told me no: and there I had a doubt that the real owner of Roma was also of Liverpool, and therefore that everything was already prepared. This I read between the lines, a little bird told me in the ear three years ago.”
Liverpool’s official owners are Fenway Sports Group, while Roma’s are NEEP Roma Holding S.p.A. The Brazilian press many times insisted that Alisson had talks with Chelsea and Real Madrid, but an offer from Napoli had never been reported.
