Anderlecht ‘have not lost hope’ of signing Sergi Canos from Brentford this summer, despite his desire to join Valencia.

That’s according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who says manager Brian Riemer is playing a ‘prominent’ role in talks with the forward.

He explains that ‘contacts remain’ with the player, despite the Spaniard having made it clear he wants to join Valencia over other options this summer.

The problem is that the La Liga side must sell before buying and, therefore, cannot currently pay the transfer figure being demanded by Brentford.

That’s left a gap between the various parties at this moment in time, with numerous reports over the last few weeks explaining how Valencia are working to try and convince Brentford to lower their demands or accept a different type of deal.

That gap, though, has allowed Anderlecht’s management to ‘move forward’ and try to get a deal over the line themselves.

They’re pushing via Riemer, who worked with the player during his four-year spell as assistant manager at Brentford and seemingly fancies a reunion this summer.
