Since AS Roma announced Jose Mourinho will be their manager for next season, the Italian sport media have been pointing out players who could follow the Portuguese coach.
That’s seen several Tottenham players linked with a move to the Serie A club, and a name which keeps popping up is Eric Dier. Forza Roma reports Mourinho is a big fan of the Spurs man and has been keen on him since the player was breaking through with Lisbon club Sporting.
Interest from Roma is being taken seriously, with insistence that summer moves are already being worked on, despite Mourinho not actually being in his new position yet.
Forza Roma put Dier’s value at around €25m, and whilst expensive for the Italian club, it’s not thought to be a figure which is beyond reach. Perhaps more difficult is negotiating with Daniel Levy, with it pointed out that Roma have experience of tough Spurs negotiations after their attempts to get Toby Alderweireld in the past.
Nevertheless, Dier is said to be Mourinho’s preference for a defensive recruit, so Roma will need to polish up their negotiating skills.
