Real Madrid have become the latest club to ‘join the race’ to sign Leicester City star Youri Tielemans.

That’s according to Sport on Wednesday, who explain the La Liga winners are ‘closely following the evolution’ of the 25-year-old.

It’s not the first time Los Blancos have looked at the Leicester player. They had bet on him in the past, when Zinedine Zidane was in charge at the Bernabéu. The Frenchman had opted to sign the midfielder, but no deal took shape.

Zidane is no longer at the club and the Belgium international is back again on the Spanish side’s agenda. Carlo Ancelotti’s side see the ex-Anderlecht man as an alternative, if they fail to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.

The England international is the priority target for the Champions League winners. Sport say his price tag could rise to around €150m, although the initial bidding will start from €100m.

Real Madrid are well placed to battle for Bellingham’s signature due to Florentino Pérez’s good ties with the BVB leaders. If they fail to land him, then they will look at the Foxes player.

The Belgian could be made available as a free agent next summer since his deal at Leicester expires at the end of this season.

This would make Brendan Rodgers’ midfielder a much cheaper alternative to Bellingham.
