Besiktas have released a statement regarding transfer speculation over their captain Oguzhan Ozyakup.
The 25 year old has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League with recent reports Everton have held transfer talks with the player.
Karar have reported on the comments made by the Turkish champions with regards to Ozyakup: “News about the transfer of Oguzhan Özyakup in the media does not reflect the truth. We ask our fans and the public not to believe the unsubstantiated news about our captain.”
Despite this statement from Besiktas they will be powerless stopping Ozyakup leaving this summer if they can’t get him to commit to the club.
The Turkey international is a free agent this summer when his contract expires, and the midfielder has already held talks with Everton. Ozyakup’s agent Kees Vos has also confirmed Everton’s interest in his client.
There have been recent reports the former Arsenal player will sign a new contract with Besiktas, but until this happens he’ll continue to be linked with other clubs, including Everton.
West Ham United and Newcastle United have also been linked.
