Catalan newspaper Sport are firmly in 2018 with the transfer rumours.
Sport’s Thursday front page explains Barcelona’s stars have been sending WhatsApp messages to Antoine Griezmann to convince him to sign for the club this summer.
It used to be text messages that was the claim, but now Sport say Griezmann has received several WhatsApp messages in recent weeks.
Those messages have made it very clear to the Frenchman that he’ll be welcome should he leave Atletico Madrid for the Camp Nou in the next window.
As well as Barcelona’s French contingent telling Griezmann to move to the club on any opportunity they get, messages sent have had a general theme: “Come to Barça!”
With Atletico putting pressure on the player to stay, Sport believe this could provide some weight pushing the balance the other way.
But then not so long ago Sport were suggesting Umtiti himself could be moving during the summer transfer window, after making high demands for a renewal.
