It’s all moving very frantically on transfer deadline day, as multiple deals are either going through or collapsing, and Tottenham have just seen the latter happen.

It involved the potential exit of Davinson Sánchez, who was a target for Stade Rennais in the last few hours, but Foot Mercato state that is no longer the case.

L’Equipe had previously said that an offer of €12m had been placed for the Colombian in hope of convincing Tottenham, but Daniel Levy was asking for €20m a few days ago.

There was optimism that figure could be brought down and an agreement reached, but Foot Mercato bluntly state the Colombian ‘will not be coming’ to Rennes.

Levy appears had brought down his figure to €15m, which he set as ‘non-negotiable’, but that clearly wasn’t low enough for the Ligue 1 club.

Monaco were also knocking at the door, clearly having him on their list as an alternative for Tosin Adarabioyo, but the demands from Tottenham were ‘deemed prohibitive’ by the clubs.

Either way, as things stand, Sánchez appears set to stay at Spurs for the rest of the season and the final year of his contract unless a new club comes knocking in the dying hours of the transfer window.
