Carpi’s local media continue their club fed stance over Jerry Mbakogu, but they’ve brought some interesting details to the table today.

Gazzetta di Modena reports Leeds United have until the end of the month, a week from now, to exercise a club agreed clause to sign the player.

This isn’t the one agreed in the January transfer window, because that has already passed, so would be the verbal agreement, at a lower price, the Modena media have repeatedly reported.

Given Leeds reportedly gave their word over signing the player, avoiding actually doing so may be seen an unfair move by some. There’s a lot of complications in this transfer and it’s been apparent more than once that personal relationships behind the scenes, and agent connections, were part of the story.

Mbakogu had knee issues last season, but that was all supposed to have been sorted out. Now, it appears not, which would be further reason for Leeds to back away.

Gazzetta di Modena report the striker has had to have a clean up and arthroscopy in recent days.

It’s not looking great for Carpi’s Leeds United hopes.
