Brentford, Fulham and Wolverhampton Wanderers seem set to miss out on signing Petar Musa from Benfica.

Portuguese newspaper Record today writes that while the striker’s departure from the Eagles is ‘practically inevitable’, he should be joining Lille in the coming days.

It’s said the talks between Benfica and the French side are well underway, with the Ligue 1 club ‘gaining advantage’ in the competition against other clubs.

Brentford, Fulham and Wolves had all been linked to Musa in the past few days, as they were said to be looking for a centre-forward late in the transfer window.

The striker has six goals and two assists in 25 appearances for Benfica this season, but with the arrival of Marcos Leonardo from Santos, he’s set to lose his place in the squad, with all parties agreeing that he should leave.

Wolves were the first Premier League club linked to him, with the Portuguese media then claiming Brentford and Fulham could join the race. Now it seems none of them actually placed a bid to compete with Lille for the signing.
