One of the more exciting, if you will, transfer sagas of this late window has been Leicester City’s attempts to sign Wesley Fofana from Saint-Étienne.

The youngster appears to have become an important target for Brendan Rodgers, which has turned the player’s head, who made it very clear he wanted the move to King Power Stadium.

Claude Puel, his manager in France, refuses to let his starlet go, and is being backed by his board for the time being.

However, one thing could change it all, according to L’Equipe, which is that Saint-Étienne could be more inclined to let the 19-year-old go if he was loaned back to them, much like what happened between them and Arsenal for William Saliba.

This, they state, ‘would change everything in the eyes of the club’s board’, but the Foxes have yet to put that forward.

They do, however, believe that ‘failing that, the English club could offer an international defender in the transaction’.

Either way, Leicester have bid €32m, and remain ‘in pole’ over the other competition, which is comprised of RB Leipzig and Milan, who ‘should come back’ with renewed offers of €25m.

Still, the Premier League side now know what they have to do if they want Fofana, but that would mean Rodgers waiting another year to get his man.
