Inter Milan were reportedly one of the clubs who wanted to sign Olivier Giroud in the winter 2020 market, but Chelsea didn’t allow him to leave Stamford Bridge.
The striker is still at the west London club and having found playing time limited this season, Giroud admitted last month that he will have to make a decision on his future in January.
Antonio Conte’s side have been linked with the 34-year-old in the past few days and Juventus have also joined the chase.
According to Calciomercato, the Old Lady had identified the 34-year-old as a target in the summer and there were ‘contacts’.
The France international is back on the Serie A winner’s transfer agenda as they are in search of a new centre forward. Andrea Pirlo wants to bring in a new No 9 in order to give a breather to both Cristiano Ronaldo and Álvaro Morata, while also not ‘distorting’ his side’s game.
The report’s title states ‘contacts started’, likely between the Turin club and the former Arsenal star.
Juventus are ‘there’ in Giroud’s chase and they will have to satisfy Chelsea before even dealing with competition from Inter. As per the report, these are the ‘two obstacles’ Pirlo’s side face in their efforts to sign the Blues frontman.
