Even though Barcelona have already managed to sign Pedri from UD Las Palmas, Spanish clubs continue to fight for the 17-year-old.
The wonderkid has impressed in the second division lately, and that’s what attracted a big competition for him, with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City being linked.
It was Barcelona who won the race, paying Las Palmas €5m to guarantee the signing and taking him to Catalunya in the next summer market.
However, with clubs now looking for low cost signings, Real Betis have publicly admitted they’d be interested in signing the youngster on a loan deal.
That didn’t go down very well at Las Palmas. As quoted by El Desmarque today, an unnamed director from the club sounded mad about it, and even brought Manchester City back into the picture.
“Pedri will continue to be in yellow, it’s our wish. Manchester City, Betis or Bayern Munich may all want him. He has the yellow fans in his soul.”
Despite the comments, El Desmarque doesn’t sound very sure that Las Palmas would be able to keep the player. They say that if loaning him out, Barcelona would rather see him playing in the first division.
