Eintracht Frankfurt are ‘working hard’ on a deal for Leeds United defender Robin Koch and are ‘desperate’ to get it over the line.
That’s according to Allgemeine Zeitung, who say a transfer is proving difficult as Leeds are being ‘hard as nails’ in the negotiations between the two parties.
Koch has been heavily linked with a move back to Germany following Leeds’ relegation to the Championship this season, with the defender having a clause in his contract that allows him to leave on loan.
That will effectively become a free transfer as his current deal expires next summer and he won’t be signing an extension at Elland Road.
Allgemeine Zeitung follow that up today and say the Bundesliga side are ‘working hard’ on the deal but his contract is ‘quite complicated’ and that is slowing things up.
First a loan deal has to be arranged with Leeds but the negotiations with various partners are ‘difficult’. Koch has made it clear he would favour Frankfurt after talks with various interested parties, including Bayer Leverkusen, but that doesn’t mean he’ll end up there.
Talks are ‘tough’ and haven’t been helped by Leeds, who, still smarting from relegation, are representing their interests ‘as hard as nails’.
Frankfurt remain keen, though, as they think Koch would be a bargain financially as they class him as a ‘top-class player’ who can improve them considerably for a low cost.
