On Tuesday night, Goal Brasil reported that Arsenal have placed a bid for the signing of Palmeiras midfielder Danilo.

It was claimed the Gunners offered £20m for the player, an amount which was expected to be rejected, with the Brazilian club not interested in reaching a deal for his departure.

The news obviously made noise in the Brazilian media, and journalist Jorge Nicola is one of those who went after more information on this story.

He claims that around 12:30AM, he spoke to someone from Palmeiras, and was told that there’s been no bid or approach from Arsenal so far.

Nicola claims that something could still happen on Wednesday, despite highlighting the fact that there’s little time for the deal to be done, given how close the deadline is.

Just like Goal Brasil, the journalist also points out that Palmeiras president Leila Pereira doesn’t want to sell their players. The club are in no need of money, and are still alive in the main competitions of the South American season, which only ends in December.

So it wouldn’t make a lot of sense to lose one of their stars now.
