Diogo Dalot being Erik ten Hag’s first choice at Manchester United this season was always likely to bring extra attention to the defender.

That he scored a couple of goals during the current international break has inevitably increased that attention and there’s now multiple claims around Europe about transfer interest.

Earlier today, we covered claims from Spain that Barcelona would be looking at the fullback ahead of future windows, and over in Italy, Corriere dello Sport are linking AS Roma again.

According to the Italian newspaper, Roma have had an eye on Dalot for a while, and they believe having Jose Mourinho as manager would help them attract the player. Mourinho was the manager who signed Dalot for Manchester United, so the claims make some sense.

The 23-year-old has a contract which expires at the end of the current season, but the Red Devils have an option to extend it by a further year. Corriere explain the latter is the likeliest scenario so Roma would have to pay.

The Serie A side are evaluating making a ‘possible offer’ for Dalot next summer, yet the entire situation will depend on whether Ten Hag sees the Portugal international as his long term choice. If he does then a move would surely be unlikely.
