Besiktas president Fikret Orman has revealed he’s ready to listen to offers for Cenk Tosun ahead of the January transfer window.
Tosun has been strongly linked with a move to Newcastle United in recent weeks after claims the Premier League side are lining up a bid for the player.
Aspor have reported on comments Orman made to Turkish TV channel TrtSpor with regards to the future of the Newcastle United target: “Cenk Tosun is like a diamond, a part of our family. If the conditions are right for Besiktas and the player, we will speak as of that day… There is no official offer to me at the moment.”
Newcastle United tabled a bid of £8m in the summer, but this was rejected instantly by the Turkish champions. However, this hasn’t deterred the Premier League side, and they’ve maintained their interest in Tosun this season.
It was claimed last month Newcastle United are lining up a €20m bid for Tosun in the new year, and last week there were further claims the Premier League side have commenced talks with his agent.
Newcastle United are expected to continue monitoring Tosun, with reports last week they’ll watch him when Besiktas take on FC Porto in the Champions League this week.
